** Description changed:

  I have a dell 1420 running 9.04 with kernel 2.6.28-12 generic. I noticed
that when I left the my laptop unattended (when running on batteries),
right after the screen went white and turned black I completely lost my
computer. The "on" led was well.. on, and the wireless led wouldn't
blink with activity but it would stay still (paralysed). I couldn't use
it any more, even clicking the mouse, pressing keys or pressing the
power button, would make me see the screen again, so I had to reboot it
by the hard way. At first I thought that it was a battery issue, but
then it happened again when running on power supply. I changed the
energy option (when closing the laptop: do nothing). And It continued
happening. It's kind of annoying because i can't leave my laptop on,
unattended because I risk loosing my work.

the screen goes black and the on and the wireless led are on and still.

- This is the error that I get running on my screen:
- "Write error on swap device"
- "Error alocating memory to compressed Page"
-
  Can anyone confirm this?
