Same problem with HP PSC 1210
If I try to start or restart (both) cups manually I get:
a...@nahl:~$ sudo /etc/init.d/cups restart
* Starting Common Unix Printing System: cupsd
cupsd: Child exited on signal 6!
[fail]
a...@nah:~$
Any workaround? printing was originally working for me on 9.04 - it must
have got broken by some recent cups update
