Hi Pedro, Thanks for pointing me to the bugzilla.gnome.org page. One of the comments there says that there is an option to "Open a Copy" within Evince. And yes, there is! I don't know how I missed it, but this resolves my issue. Cancel the wishlist, there is no problem here except with me!
