Status in “linux” source package in Ubuntu: Confirmed

Bug description:
I have been trying to make my microphone work for a few weeks now.
I have a HP Pavilion dv1668ea laptop, with an Intel Corporation 82801G (ICH7
Family) High Definition Audio Controller (rev 02), which has the Conexant
CX20551 codec chip.
Neither the internal nor any plugged in microphone works. I tried upgrading to
Alsa 1.0.18rc3, but that didn't help. I played around with alsamixer a lot, and
tried out all possible setting combinations. Mostly I just get digital noise on
the microphone input.

I tested in Windows XP Pro SP3 as well, and my microphones are working there,
so it is not a hardware malfunction.
The Windows sound mixer has a "Mic Docking Sel"-checkbox next to the "Mic
Boost"-checkbox, which must be unchecked in order to make the microphone work.
I suspect this option to be enabled hardware-wise in Ubuntu, and I guess lack
of an option to disable it keeps the microphone muted.

For more information see my tsalsa output:
http://nopaste.com/p/aFntL9TKu

I am using:
Ubuntu 8.04.1
Alsa-driver 1.0.16-0ubuntu4, also tried 1.0.18rc3

I expect the microphone to work, or at least have options in the mixer
to make it work, but it doesn't.
