I have new netbook Mivvy L310 with Ubuntu Linux 8.04 pre-installed and I installed latest version (9.04) too. 1 minute pause after boot I eliminated with kernel option thermal=off, becouse detection of acpi thermal sensor is the cause of this issue. But it isn't too good solution.
