That is a great idea.. Really, I wonder why did I overcomplicate it (well, the package was last changed in Debian 4 years ago but still...). Hmm.. actually to stop files from installing into the package I'd have to modify more files (patched Makefiles installs files in debian/tmp/mdetect... and then they are included in package by default ignoring mdetect.install and mdetect.files. Maybe this patch? It just stops patch from being applied (and remove quilt patch system altogether).
