I can confirm the same bug on Ubuntu 8.04.2 (kernel 2.6.24-24) with Firefox 3.0.0.11. Gmail.com, Facebook.com and some other sites stop working after what appear to be a silent crash (firefox is still running, but stops submitting forms). In Firefox Error console reports a failure to load XPCOM component: /usr/lib/xulrunner-1.9.0.11/composite/libpyloader.so and pyabout.py.
