Public bug reported: I have a Via 8233A soundcard. When there is just one virtual terminal, sound seems to work fine.
However, when I open a second terminal by locking the screen, and then clicking on "Switch User", when gdm starts, it repeats the Ubuntu drumbeat ad infinitum. If I switch back to the original VT (Ctrl- Alt-F7), the sound stops. If I switch back to VT8, there is also no sound. Until that is I try to play a sound in VT8, (e.g. using aplay). In thise case the first half second or so of the sound repeats ad infinitum. Sounds still play fine when I switch back to VT7. If a sound is playing in VT7 and I switch to VT8, the VT7 sound starts repeating, though it will start playing properly again on return to VT7. If I log in as a different user in a terminal window in VT7 I can still play sounds fine. ** Affects: Ubuntu Importance: Untriaged Status: Unconfirmed -- Repeating sounds in second virtual terminal with Via 8233A https://launchpad.net/bugs/53403 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
