Till, Is it ok to close this bug report? I believe this bug has been fixed in foomatic-db 20081027 (Ubuntu Jaunty), according to the changelog: New printer entries auto-generated from PPD files in db/source/PPD using the new foomatic-ppd-to-xml tool from foomatic-db-engine. Now all manufacturer-supplied PPDs are linked from a Foomatic printer XML entry.
