Have you considered reading the KNOWN-PROBLEMS file in
/usr/share/doc/iscan?

Grab the source tarball and build your own .deb.  Instructions are in the 
README.
FWIW, I said the same thing here[1].

Seeing that Fedora 11 has also dropped libltld3 completely, I'd expect
packages built against libltdl7 with one of the upcoming releases.

WRT to the need for running the udev fixing script, this[2] already said
that Ubuntu 8.10 and later were not affected.
