@James, Presumably the issue has nothing to do with GPU for the reason that we all have the same problem even though having different hardware. OS - that's what is the same for us all. Since the issue was introduced with Jaunty and later on Hardy, according to Alex Cockell's report, it sticks me to the idea of ACPI built in kernel that causes the mess.
