Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: pulseaudio

When booting jaunty the following information is written to the
(sys)logs:

Jun 9 20:12:16 ASUSP5B pulseaudio[4268]: alsa-util.c: Device hw:1 doesn't
support 44100 Hz, changed to 16000 Hz.
Jun 9 20:12:16 ASUSP5B pulseaudio[4268]: alsa-util.c: Device hw:1 doesn't
support 2 channels, changed to 1.
Jun 9 20:12:16 ASUSP5B pulseaudio[4268]: module-alsa-source.c: Your kernel
driver is broken: it reports a volume range from 18.00 dB to 18.00 dB which
makes no sense.

I am using an ASUS P5B motherboard with onboard HDA Intel Sound (Intel
82801H (ICH8 Family) HD Audio Controller)

Did not remember seeing this before, sound is still working but seems
softer, could be totally unrelated to the log entries.
