@hpp3: ... if it works, then it's still just a workaround, and not a fix. It won't impress anyone I try to recommend Kubuntu to. I realize it's not your fault; I'm just getting frustrated that no-one seems to be taking responsibility for bugs like this and bug #24234, for example.
