Since I reported this bug, I upgraded all my PCs to jaunty or karmic. At
least the jaunty i386 desktop CD did not install tracker or any search
daemon, so the bug is "being worked around" by default.

I assume the team that decides what is on the CD, what is installed by
default and how it is configured made this decision on purpose, so for
me this seems to be fixed (I did not use tracker anyways).
