Almost everyone I would be switching to Lunix (Ubuntu) uses the
hibernate feature in Windows.

A quick search of the issue turns up many, many related issues and even some
duplicates:
https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bugs?field.searchtext=Hibernate+not+working&search=Search

I did see one post that was talking about a relation between swap
space... in my case my swap is about half my memory (1 gig mem).

Anyway, I can only hope they resolve this before I have to make a choice
because I'll never get people to use it if it doesn't perform basic
laptop operations like hibernate/suspend. Most of the people who would
be using it are non-tech people, and they will not accept anything that
doesn't just work... I feel like I'm running Windows 95 again for the
issues like this one that I keep running into!

I am a programmer, but unfortunately not a C programmer with any
experience writing code for Linux so I'm a little on the useless side
for helping to resolve the issue at a lower level.
