I don't think you intended to forward this to my project, since the
feature request is for gstm. That is not to say that it wouldn't be a
good idea for my alternative ssh tunnel manager, just that I think the
original user was looking for functionality in gstm.
In my system, users wishing to have passwords stored for tunnels or keys
would use my ssh-askpass-keyring program, which stores passphrases in
the gnome keyring. A feature request for my ssh-askpass-keyring program
would be appropriate, and I might open a wishlist bug against that
program, too.
