Public bug reported:

Sorry, I don't know what package this pertains to, but on my laptop (IBM
ThinkPad G41) running Ubuntu 9.04 it has started having the following
problem. When I switch desktops (whether using the icons on the toolbar
or the keyboard shortcut) the desktop will switch, but there are no
toolbars, no icons, and I cannot seem to bring up any menus by right
clicking. Also, I can use the keyboard shortcuts to switch desktops
again, but no matter which one I go to they are all blank. The only way
I know of to get back to a working desktop is to change shells to a
terminal only and sudo shutdown now -r.

** Affects: ubuntu
     Importance: Undecided
         Status: New
