My situation isn't exactly the same, but it looks like a very similar
issue to me - I'm using dmraid on a fakeraid system but the issue seems
to be the same. I posted my problem as a question a while ago and got
no response. You can see my post here:

https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ubiquity/+question/71192

Since that post, I have tried a few other things including
repartitioning using cfdisk (same issue) and reinstalling with the 9.04
server CD. With the server CD install, I ran "dmraid -ay" from a shell
before the partition disk step in order to get the install to see my
disk. Everything ran fine after that until the reboot, where I ran into
the exact issue mentioned by Timothy above (i.e. four errors about "no
block devices found" etc). Pretty much the same workaround works for me
as well. I type:

dmraid -ay
exit

and the boot continues normally with no other issues. It seems that the raid
manager is just not getting loaded on boot so grub simply doesn't find the
partition.
There's another very similar issue reported here:

https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/dmraid/+bug/373520

It seems there are a few of us collecting with the same issue now. Does
anyone have any ideas on what the problem/solution might be?

Any help would be appreciated.
