I just downloaded the Karmic Xubuntu test ISO, and the problem isn't in this one. I installed it, and updated with no problems as of yet. As a matter of fact I am sending this via the newly installed Karmic test version. This is one of the pc's that I reported the original problem about. I also had the same result on my home pc, so tonight I may give the Karmic version a try and see how it flys. I don't know if this will be of any help or not.
