  Owner of Sony Vaio FW11M with an ATI graphics adapter, using Ubuntu 8.10 
final.
  The Fn button for adjusting the brightness of the screen is not 
working.Ubuntu applet to control brightness does not work either, while i tried 
to install xbacklight but it does not seem to work either.
  The rest of the Fn Keys give OSD indications but nothing happens (i.e mute)

+ (1) Fn+uparrow and downarrow
+ doesn't work
+ 
+ (2) system->preference->power managements
+  doesn't work
+ 
+ (3)sudo sh -c "echo -n 10 > /proc/acpi/video/NVID/LCD/brightness"
+ doesn't work

+ (4)disable the driver
+      (1)still doesn't work but (2) and (3) work.
