So,
After looking at this page: 
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelTeam/SuspendResumeTesting/Feedback it seens 
hpet=disabled solved the resume problem for some people.
I tried it here and now my system can resume without any fuzz :D

For the records, I've also tried a stock 2.6.29.3 kernel and the bug is still 
present (didn't try passing hpet=disabled to it thou).
Also suspend/resume worked like a charm with Intrepid.
