Public bug reported: If I attempt to play a song whose file name has a special character in it such as at sign (@) or a ampersand (&), the song does not play, and the progress-bar does not move. The interface remains responsive until you hit Next Track. At this point the interface becomes unresponsive and you eventually have to terminate the application.
Two media files I have been able to reproduce the problem with are: /home/drew/Music/Dane Cook/Retaliation Disc 2/06 Creepy Guy @ Work.wma /home/drew/Music/Dane Cook/Harmful If Swallowed Disc 1/07 Fireman & Policeman & Miniature Golf Course Security Guard.wma Other .wma that do not have special characters in the file names play just fine. I can also play these same two files fine using mplayer. rhythmbox: Installed: 0.12.0-0ubuntu4 Candidate: 0.12.0-0ubuntu4 Version table: *** 0.12.0-0ubuntu4 0 500 http://us.archive.ubuntu.com jaunty/main Packages 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status Ubuntu 9.04 Jaunty Jackalope Linux anubis 2.6.28-11-generic #42-Ubuntu SMP Fri Apr 17 01:58:03 UTC 2009 x86_64 GNU/Linux ** Affects: rhythmbox (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Rhythmbox locks up when playing a file with special characters https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/375936 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
