I have same problem, with Ubuntu 9.04 amd64 (updated from 8.10). I had isame problem with 8.10. It affects multiple Kde apps (I use krusader and konsole). It hapens only in gmone desktop, when i log in to kde desktop and use same apps, there is no problem. I have GeForce 9650M card, desktop effects enabled. I have created fresh user account (after update to 9.04), and it is affected by this bug too.
