Yes, I still get it! I have tried to isolate the problem, the cpu hogging occurs whether gedit is the only running application launched by me personally or not. I am not using any font hintning, and only font grayscale smoothing, all visual effects turned off.
The cpu hogging is dependant on what file I am editing and where in the file. The hogging occurs writing anything between line 1 and line 12, writing anything on any other line seemingly works fine.
