@Stefan Bader: I don't know how to change the kernel the live usb-stick boots from. I can't find anything about that on the net, sorry. If you know how do to this, let me know and I'll try if the bug is fixed in kernel 2.6.28-12.43. Thus I can't confirmed that the bug is fixed in kernel 2.6.28-12.43, yet.
Today I noticed that my installed version of Jaunty did not mount an usb-stick, which is plugged in before turning on the computer. I believe this is due to the same issue. With the kernel from proposed the usb-stick is mounted correctly! Therefore the bug seems to be fixed in the new kernel.
