Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: firefox

this is a feature request. if this is the wrong forum for feature
request, please point me to the correct one.

Google and the other search engines seem to be 'Google-bombed' more and
more by Microsoft.com sites. This is 1) getting in the way of finding
real information, 2) many of these are either irrelevant to firefox and
ubuntu users, 3) most of the real, otherwise valuable information is
blocked for ff and ubuntu users. #3 there is the biggest waste of time,
because usually that info can be found elsewhere but much time is wasted
running into the MS dead end.

So I am requesting a firefox add-on or even a built-in feature that prepends or
appends a search qualifier to eliminate microsoft.com sites from the search
results.
For Google the syntax is -site:microsoft.com
