Public bug reported: Binary package hint: konqueror
cr...@craig-laptop:~$ apt-cache policy konqueror konqueror: Installed: 4:4.2.2-0ubuntu4 Candidate: 4:4.2.2-0ubuntu4 Version table: *** 4:4.2.2-0ubuntu4 0 500 http://gb.archive.ubuntu.com jaunty/main Packages 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status The exact scenario: I have installed FreeMind ( http://freemind.sourceforge.net ) - it uses the *.mm filename extension for its documents. In Hardy I was able to manually put an entry into Konqueror's file associations list (using the semi-fictitious MIME type application/x-freemind) in order to open FreeMind documents. Using Jaunty I noticed that the *.mm filename pattern is taken by the filetype text/x-troff-mm and after adding my FreeMind MIME type my Freemind docs were still being opened with kate (as per the text/x -troff-mm file association). Since I don't deal with text/x-troff-mm documents, I decided that it would be acceptable to me to remove the *.mm association from the troff MIME type (thus all *.mm files will be treated as FreeMind documents). I tried to do this however and it does not work. To reproduce it: 1) Konqueror » Setting » Configure Konqueror » File Associations Item 2) Search for "mm" 3) Select the MIME type text/x-troff-mm 4) Select the filename pattern *.mm and choose "Remove" then click OK to exit the configuration dialog The "Updating System Settings" progress indicator appears and closes without error, but on clicking an *.mm file, it is still opened with kate (the text/x-troff-mm action). Returning to the File Associations dialog and looking at the text/x-troff-mm MIME type, I see that the *.mm filename pattern has returned. I tried to completely remove the text/x-troff-mm MIME type from konqueror next, but even after doing that, it still exists in the list, although the "remove button" is disabled. Also, clicking an *.mm document still uses the settings for text/x-troff-mm (and opens the file in kate) I cannot find any way to remove/disable/prevent *.mm files opening using kate in Jaunty, and so at the moment I am having to File » Open mind map files from within FreeMind, wheras in Hardy I can just click them in Konqueror and have FreeMind launch and open the file in a single action. ** Affects: kdebase (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Konqueror file associations cannot be changed/removed https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/373253 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to kdebase in ubuntu. -- kubuntu-bugs mailing list kubuntu-b...@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/kubuntu-bugs
