Public bug reported:
When using Metacity as the Window Manager, the Workspace Switcher
("Switch between workspaces") displays as expected. When enabling Compiz
or "Extra" under Visual Effects, the Workspace Switcher is no longer
visible on the Gnome-Panel. It is instead displayed as a one pixel wide
black line. You're lucky to be able to even see that it's there. I had
this problem in 8.10 and am still having it in 9.04
Current compiz version is: 1:0.8.2-0ubuntu8
Current gnome-panel version is: 1:2.26.0-0ubuntu7
