Anyone who suffers this problem with a Foomatic PPD (mainly HP printers) should try to choose the "Generic PCL 6/XL printer" with the pxlmono or pxlcolor driver as printer model. Then the printer should work correctly and with high speed, only the Economode and FastRes are not available then.
