@AndreD, You misunderstood the issue here. Ekiga 3.x does network configuration just like befaore, the difference is it now does the selection automatically. Still you can disable this autoconfiguration as explained here: http://wiki.ekiga.org/index.php/Ekiga_behind_a_NAT_router#How_to_disable_STUN_with_Ekiga_3.2.x.3F
The issue here is the network detection failed.
