Note that most CUPS filters produce temporary files in
/var/spool/cups/tmp/. Can you check whether your disk partition is
perhaps full and also what permissions /var/spool/cups/tmp/ and
/var/spool/cups/ have ("sudo ls -ld /var/spool/cups/tmp/
