Same values as Valentin on 2009-02-04 on a Compaq 8510w. Note that the way the display switching should work is a bit more complex. Ideally, the desktop environment should be able to get an event, use RANDR to probe the connected display and make a decision.
There is also an ACPI Display switch infrastructure which keeps it within the driver, but outside of the desktop environment. This is a driver <-> ACPI issue only. At most, one of these methods should be active at any given time, realistically all RANDR capable drivers should be able to support the DesktopEnvironment+RANDR method, and _most_ laptops should have most of the ACPI infrastructure in place to handle ACPI+Driver display switching. BIOS based display switching (ie: from the console) is too rudimentary to be useful for X windows.
