I added an extra line, based on information I found in the fix proposed at 
http://mail.gnome.org/archives/gvfs-list/2009-March/msg00002.html


1) edit the gphoto-monitor-configuration:

> sudo gedit /usr/share/gvfs/remote-volume-monitors/gphoto2.monitor

2) Change the contents as follows:

[RemoteVolumeMonitor]
Name=GProxyVolumeMonitorGPhoto2
DBusName=org.gtk.Private.GPhoto2VolumeMonitor
#IsNative=false
IsNative=true
NativePriority=3

3) logout and login to force reloading configurations
