Public bug reported: A colleague of mine downloaded Ubuntu Netbook Remix 9.04 for his "Asus EEE PC 4G Surf" (*.img file, downloadable from http://www.ubuntu.com/getubuntu/download-netbook).
He then put the image file on an USB stick using the usb-imagewriter package, as described on https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Installation/FromImgFiles#Ubuntu. usb-imagewriter put the image onto the stick and reported "Success". My colleague then booted Ubuntu Netbook Remix (UNR) from the above mentioned USB stick and then intended to perform the integrity test. There was the first bug: Even though UNR is made for notebooks without a CD/DVD drive and even though UNR is obviously meant to be installed from a USB stick, the "integrity test" item on the installtion start screen mentioned CD/DVD only, so there was no obviously right way of checking the USB stick for integrity. Secondly, my colleague performed the above mentioned CD/DVD test from the start screen (applying it to the USB stick). After checking the image, the integrity test tool reported that there had been errors found in one file (or one error found, I don't quite remember). ** Affects: ubuntu Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Ubuntu Netbook Remix 9.04: Check sum error reported https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/372228 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
