Some more details: The target site http://mirror.files.bigpond.com/ubuntu/ has been operational since Dec'07. For those who are Bigpond customers downloads are unmetered (ie. "they don't count towards your monthly usage allowance"). I'm unsure whether or not this site is available to those outside of the Bigpond network. Perhaps someone could check.
Ubuntu ISO's are also available here: http://files.bigpond.com/library/?go=cat&id=812 ...again downloads are unmetered for Bigpond customers.
