Hi Michael, FYI - Following your advice, I removed the CD-Rom from the sources.list (which even though is the active CD ROM drive, and it does work). I then upgraded to 9.04 kubuntu and the installation completed ok, however when i rebooted i was not able to login to KDE. I managed to logon to a console session, but still couldn't get to an x-window. Then, through trial and error, and a couple hours of pulling out hair, i ran sudo dpkg --configure -a from console, and then rebooted, and was able to login to KDE. There's definitely some bugs in the 9.04 kubuntu installation. Let me know if you need more info.
