I have taken my PC's life in it's hands and rebooted while the
distribution upgrade was in it's dependency hell and "cleaning up".

On reboot, I came up in low graphics ( I had lost my graphics setup).
I restarted "update-manager -d" and proceeded with the upgrade.

This time the system has recognized that it needs to get a further 800
or so packages out of 1457 and is proceeding with the downloads as
normal.
