Since yesterday (upgrade from 8.10 to 9.04) I had exactly the same problem. For me the /etc/rcS.d/S11mountdevsubfs.sh was missing, too. And I also got the errors during boot metioned above. I created now the missing symlink at it seems to work, now. Please let us no, if this really fixes the problem in the correct way.
