I believe I found the cause of the problem reported by Jan Nekvasil (gnumeric fails to import the last 10 lines when pasting text). I opened a new bug report to describe this and also a possible fix, see: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnumeric/+bug/369650
