Hi again, I upgraded step by step. Ubuntu 8.04 => Ubuntu 8.10 then 9.04 When upgrade done : CTRL + ALT + F2
I removed all the nvidia paquages : sudo apt-get remove --purge nvidia* I downloaded : NVIDIA-Linux-x86_64-185.18.04-pkg1.run for my AMD64/Ubuntu 64bits from here : wget ftp://download.nvidia.com/XFree86/Linux-x86_64/185.18.04/NVIDIA- Linux-x86_64-185.18.04-pkg1.run I stopped Gnome Desktop Manager : sudo /etc/init.d/gdm stop Then installed the driver : sudo sh NVIDIA-Linux-x86_64-185.18.04-pkg1.run Then restarted GDM : sudo /etc/init.d/gdm start Everything is running smooth.
