Note: Problem has been resolved. This issue was due to a hard drive failure rather than an OS related issue. Finally found a log that actually gave more information. This bug can be closed.
** Description changed: After running a clean install of Jaunty, one is prompted to restart per usual. Upon restarting, I am kicked out of the Ubuntu splash screen and dropped into a root console. dmesg indicates no errors. also - network drivers have not loaded by the point at which I was dumped out of the boot cycle - so this is what I can type up and share from my laptop (as opposed to the desktop which is where the issue is). If someone has specific questions about the contents of dmesg or lspci -vnvn - please ask. uname -a: Linux chinthliss 2.6.28-11-generic #42-Ubuntu SMP Fri Apr 17 01:57:59 UTC 2009 i686 GNU/Linux cat /proc/version_signature: Ubuntu 2.6.28-11.42-generic release: 9.04 + + Note: Problem has been resolved.
