Good morning Mr. Chris, I do apologize if I reported a wrong bug. I do not know who or where to look for help. As I said, I am very new to Linux and have not encountered Unix scripts before. I have no basic training for this and just doing things blindly but I am persistent to learn everything because this is the future of Operating Systems. You (Ubuntu and etc. related) are amazing. As I view it, Networking is a breeze.
I have down loaded the Debian "Apt HowTo" Manual/Common error" and saw the error as stated: E: Could not open lock file /var/lib/dpkg/lock - open (13 Permission denied) E: Unable to lock the administration directory (/var/lib/dpkg/), are you root? To my understanding, as a normal user, I do not have permission to enter the right code to undo this error. So, I went to the website and looked for the Sudo instruction and found RootSudo: Under sec 4. users/ 3/ 1.Enabling Root Account and needs to enter" sudo passwd root Unfortunately, I am not able to work on it at this time. I don't know if this will work before entering the commands: # apt-get -f install # dpkg --configure -a Will this work? If so, it means I am on the right track if not, can you lead me? Thank you very much. Examining the information you have given us, this does not appear to be a bug report so we are closing it and converting it to a question in the support tracker. We appreciate the difficulties you are facing, but it would make more sense to raise problems you are having in the support tracker at https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu if you are uncertain if they are bugs.
