Public bug reported: Binary package hint: network-manager
hi, i have a very stupid looking problem, the network manager wouldn't detect the wireless networks that is there at home. Also the icon shows up with a red cross even when there is proper Ethernet connectivity on it. When i first loaded Jaunty, i was seeing two wireless networks as expected and i connected through pppoe as i usually do on windows, but on subsequent reloads - the network manager stopped detecting the wireless networks at home and even when there was a ip address assigned to the ethernet card, the network manager would report it with a red cross, but ifconfig from cli would show me the assigned ip address . how do i see the networks with the help of network manager Here is the output of some of the commands that could help siddha...@novice:~$sudo lshw -C network *-network description: Ethernet interface product: NetXtreme BCM5751M Gigabit Ethernet PCI Express vendor: Broadcom Corporation physical id: 0 bus info: p...@0000:10:00.0 logical name: eth0 version: 11 serial: 00:15:60:b1:43:5b size: 100MB/s capacity: 1GB/s width: 64 bits clock: 33MHz capabilities: pm vpd msi pciexpress bus_master cap_list ethernet physical tp 10bt 10bt-fd 100bt 100bt-fd 1000bt 1000bt-fd autonegotiation configuration: autonegotiation=on broadcast=yes driver=tg3 driverversion=3.94 duplex=full firmware=5751m-v3.29a ip=192.168.1.3 latency=0 link=yes module=tg3 multicast=yes port=twisted pair speed=100MB/s siddha...@novice:~$ iwlist eth1 scan eth1 Scan completed : Cell 01 - Address: 00:1B:57:C4:BB:C9 ESSID:"Moghe" Protocol:IEEE 802.11bg Mode:Master Frequency:2.462 GHz (Channel 11) Encryption keyff Bit Rates:1 Mb/s; 2 Mb/s; 5.5 Mb/s; 6 Mb/s; 9 Mb/s 11 Mb/s; 12 Mb/s; 18 Mb/s; 24 Mb/s; 36 Mb/s 48 Mb/s; 54 Mb/s Quality=93/100 Signal level=-19 dBm Extra: Last beacon: 2060ms ago siddha...@novice:~$ sudo dhclient eth1 There is already a pid file /var/run/dhclient.pid with pid 5103 killed old client process, removed PID file Internet Systems Consortium DHCP Client V3.1.1 Copyright 2004-2008 Internet Systems Consortium.
