I have just updated my own Compaq Armada M700 with the Jaunty release
(not the Alpha as above), using the 'New distribution available' button
on Update Manager. It all seemed to go smoothly but I have the same
issue, It fails to boot with many messages scrolling past too quick to
catch before locking up.

If I use Grub to select the 2.6.27 kernel instead of the default 2.6.28
it boots normally and runs well.

The update was from a three week old clean install of Intrepid.

Let me know if you want any more details. Is there anywhere I can find a
file with the failed boot log in it?
