The defaults of Ubuntu Compiz could definitely use to be changed. The thing about compiz in comparison to vista is that you have more desktops and therefore more windows more of the time. Doing what vista does would work, but when X.org get I.R. there will be a way to make it not as resource intensive as taking a snapshot of windows.
