I also experience this problem and I had like to precise the following:
When scrolling up/down, some lines are reproduced twice. It can take about 30 
seconds or more for Kile to recover from this situation. 

the option "--graphicssystem raster" does not solve the problem as the 
screenshots provided are taken with Kile launched with this command:
kile --graphicssystem raster

I do not think it is intel related as suggested above. I am using an ATI
graphic card with the -ati driver. I am running gnome with subpixel
smoothing enabled. I will test and report back if the behavior changes
when disabling subpixel smoothing.

The screenshot should be compared with the latex file attached.
