sudo -u postgres strace -o /tmp/strace -vfs 1024 /usr/lib/postgresql/8.3/bin/initdb -D /var/lib/postgresql/main -W However this one fails with the same error sudo -u postgres /usr/lib/postgresql/8.3/bin/initdb -D /var/lib/postgresql/main -W Could this be related to some problem with dev tree ?
