Thank you - no it is not an issue. I reformatted everything and started
over then it installed just fine.

The only current installissue is thta on the VERY FIRST boot, the screen
resolution is messed up, it appears to set the XWindows display to a
high resolution (1900x1200?) but th evideo card to somehting like
600x800! This prevents logging on since the logon area is off screen.

Rebooting into the failsafe and running the 'fix the Xwindows" option
fixes the problem permanently. It is a minor problem, but I seen it so
far on 5 machines using very different hardware (both Nvidia and ATI
drivers).

>From that I conclude that somehting is not gettign set during the
intitial boot up!

The only reason this is even worth mentioning is that is exactly when a
new user is wondering if everyhting works, but gets into some strange
mode with a really unrecognizable background!

So far everything else seems to work fine, I am installing Win2K via
Virtual Box on another machine as I type this.

YOU GUYS ARE DOING A GREAT JOB!

Looking forward to 9.04!

Mike Waters

Is this still an issue for you?  The reason I ask is because based on
your dmesg output, I see you are running the Ubuntu 2.6.27-11.31-generic
kernel which claimed to have failed to install.
