** Description changed: Binary package hint: kernel-image-2.6.28-11-generic-di installed 8.10 on new HP DV6 laptop - everything fine. Crackly sound on shutdown - sound still worked on reboot, however. Upgrade to 9.04 with 2.6.28-11 amd64 bit kernel and no sound. Tried to adjust settings via alsamixer and play mp3's - no dice. Nothing.
