On a brand new install of the same system (same install disc: Kubuntu 9.04 RC amd64 alternative) on the same hardware (Dell Inspiron E1505 / 6400 Intel Duo Core, 2 GB RAM, ATI x1400 Mobile Radeon) the system locks up randomly after no more than 10 minutes of use. Sometimes the screen blanks on lockup, sometimes not. Sometimes it locks up so bad that Alt- SysRq-B will not restart it. After one lockup the user's KDE settings were gone: the panel was back to the default configuration and the wallpaper had reverted to the stock wallpaper.
